‘University Of Sports To Foster Talent, Expertise’
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo on Wednesday said that siting of the Federal University of Sports in the state, will provide a platform for cutting-edge research, innovation, and the development of highly skilled graduates who will contribute meaningfully to our society.
While commending President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the university, he expressed confidence that the institution would quickly become a centre of academic excellence, attracting students and scholars from across the country and beyond.
The governor said that the landmark decision marks a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and fostering intellectual growth.
He added, “Today, we celebrate a victory for the people of Edo State. The establishment of the Federal University of Sports is a testament to President Tinubu’s dedication to advancing education in Nigeria.
“This institution will not only provide opportunities for our teeming youths but also serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development in our State and the nation at large.”
Governor Okpebholo emphasised the critical role education plays in shaping the future of the state and reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government to ensure the smooth take-off and sustainable growth of the new university.
He acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society organizations, who contributed to the realization of this project.
“This University is a dream comes true for many generations of indigenes. It will provide a platform for cutting-edge research, innovation, and the development of highly skilled graduates who will contribute meaningfully to our society.”
