Smuggling: NCS, Western Marine Command Acquire 2 Gun Boats, Others
In a bid to curb smuggling and all forms of criminalities on our waterways, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Western Marine Command, has acquired two gunboats and two logistics boats to patrol the waterfront in its area of operation.
Customs Area Comptroller, Comptroller Oduadu Salefu, said three other watercrafts were being expected from the manufacturer to bring the total number of new crafts to seven.
He said the two existing boats of the command, MV Group of Nine and MV Customs Pride, were undergoing repairs and would soon be deployed to complement the new ones.
Comptroller Salefu also said the Command intercepted contraband goods worth N110.2 million in the first quarter of the year.
According to him, the seizures were recorded in 15 operations carried out by his “gallant officers.”
