NPFL: Remo Midfielder Joins Inter On Four-Year Deal
Perhaps one of the most shocking deadline day moves, Remo Stars midfielder, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, completed a move to Italian giants, Inter Milan, from the Nigeria Professional Football League side.
The 18-year-old, an academy product of Remo, signed a four-year deal with the Serie A club, who beat off competition from Real Madrid, Benfica and Hammarby to secure his signature.
Remo confirmed the move on their website on Tuesday, “Midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has completed his move to Italian giants Inter Milan from Remo Stars. The teenager, who is an academy product of the club, has signed a four-year deal. He was part of the team that helped Remo Stars gain promotion from the Nigeria National League to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in the 2020/2021 season,” the club statement read in part.
Akinsanmiro featured prominently for the academy team, Beyond Limits, in The Creative Championship and Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament.
He also featured for the club in the 2022 NPFL season when they finished third and played on the continent.
In March 2022, Akinsanmiro attracted the attention of Inter scouts at the Viareggio Cup Academy tournament in Italy and immediately after the tournament, he signed a preliminary contract with Inter and returned to Nigeria.
A scout, who has been following Akinsamiro keenly, took to his twitter page via @Halis9723 to describe the qualities of the player.
“He can take the ball at the right angle between the lines, statically or mobile, and the time to turn his face to the opponent’s field is at a very good level. He often suffers from balance problems due to lower body weakness. This young boy from Remo Stars is valued,” Halis tweeted in February 2022.
It is understood that the player will join Inter’s youth side.

Iwobi Optimistic On S’Eagles Qualification
Iwobi spoke to Tidesports source ahead of Nigeria’s crunch playoff semi-final against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old was reacting to Nigeria’s shaky World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Eagles finish second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” Iwobi told Tidesports source.
We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”
The Fulham star pointed to Nigeria’s star power, highlighting African Footballer of the Year winners Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as proof of the squad’s quality.
“We have last year’s African best player (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen),” he said.
“It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
Nigeria’s path to the United States, Canada and Mexico has been turbulent, with two coaches departing during the early stages of qualifying before Éric Chelle steadied the ship to steer the Super Eagles into November’s CAF playoffs.
Four nations from the continent – Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon – will vie for a solitary spot to compete in next March’s inter-confederation playoffs, with a view to joining the already nine qualified African nations at the Finals.
It would mark Iwobi’s second appearance at the World Cup Finals and the Super Eagles’ first since the 2018 edition of the competition.
Back then, Iwobi featured in all three games as Nigeria was knocked out in the group stage.
