Foundation Awards 50 UniBen Students With Scholarship
The Bedrock Human Development Foundation has announced award of scholarship grants to 50 students of the University of Benin (UniBen).
A statement from the Public Relations Unit of the university said the criteria for selection of successful awardees included a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5, minimum of 70 per cent score in the screening test, indigent as determined by family income and top performing female students.
The awards, according to the statement, cut across 12 disciplines of Accountancy, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Economics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Geology.
Others are Law, Mechanical Engineering, Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy and Petroleum Engineering.
The unit said a total of 304 applications were received out of which the 50 were selected.
“The value of the scholarship grant per awardee is N150,000 per session which will be maintained over a 10-year period for a constant number of 50 students.
“Bedrock Foundation says it instituted the Educational Endowment Legacy to mark the 50th birthday Anniversary of its Founder and Chairman, Engr. Osa Owieadolor, whose 50th birth-year coincided with that of establishment of the University of Benin.
“Engr. Owieadolor, who is a Distinguished Alumnus of the University and a recipient of UniBen Heroes Award is, by the gesture, giving back to his alma-mater.
“Bedrock Human Development Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 2013 with the primary mission of empowering Nigerian youths through educational support programmes,” it said.
