21st NSF: Delta State Not Interested To Develop Sports But To Win
The Festival Secretary of Team Rivers State, Christopher Chioma has said that Delta State does not have any intention to develop Sports but focused to host the 21st National Sports Festival (NSF) and win.
He stated that the irregularities that characterised the competition mostly on athletes was really worrisome.
Chioma who is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the State Sports Concil, in Rivers State, made assertion in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, on Tuesday, in Asaba.
The 21st National Sports Festival (NSF) is holding in Asaba Delta State capital, the competition started on the 28th November and expected to end tomorrow.
As it is Team Delta State is currently leading the medal table with 146 gold, 78, silver and 51 bronze , the second Bayelsa 40 gold , Silver 23 and 40 bronze, while third place Edo with 28 gold, 42 silver and 68 bronze medals. As Team Rivers is currently on seventh position with nine gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals.
According to him, there are athletes in Chess, Para power lifting etc, that are not legible to compete for Team Delta which is now raising series of protest letters from Anambra, Rivers and Bayelsa to the authorises.
“ I want to say that Delta State is not planning to develop sports but just to host and by all means. I did not say have bribe everybody but I believe something has gone under the water.
As I speak Team is not worried because we came here to win and we are putting every efforts ensure that we come tops. The State Government is not owing any athlete so our pay back is to win and make the State proud” Chioma said.
