RSPHCMB Unveils Ogu/Bolo Authority, Ward Dev Committee
The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board has inaugurated the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Health Authority and Ward Development Committee.
The inauguration ceremony was performed in the conference hall of council Secretariat in Ogu, by the Permanent Secretary, who was represented by Dr Nyesochi Offor.
Speaking during the occasion, the Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka, welcomed the permanent secretary, directors and entourage to Ogu.
Nemieboka said as council chairman, one of his major priorities, was to provide quality health care service delivery for the people, saying that he was happy that after his last meeting with the RSPHCMB, their discussions were yielding results.
The chairman affirmed that health care was very important to everyone, adding that this was why everyone should join the council and state agency to manage health care delivery and secure the health facilities in the area.
Nemieboka said some of the health centres and posts in the area were not properly utilised while some places do not have the basic facilities.
He said that with the inauguration of the committees, he would ensure that the places were reached before he leaves office so the committee would carry out its functions effectively and efficiently even at the ward level.
For the health workers, Nemieboka called on them to take their job more seriously because the duty of the newly inaugurated committee was to supervise them and report directly to the council, warning that the committee was made up of highly responsible members of the society who would patriotically discharge their duties.
Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, RSPHCMB, Dr Nyesochi Offor, commended Nemieboka for prioritising health care delivery in his administration.
She said the committee members would be the eyes of government in the various health centres in their communities.
The committee is also saddled with the responsibility of knowing the needs of their various communities, and in turn make those needs known to the government for proper delivery of services.
She charged them to carry out their responsibilities with due diligence because it a huge responsibility that has been given to them.
