EMOLGA Boss Suspends EMOVIS Commander, Deputy Over Alleged Killings
The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has approved the immediate suspension of the commander of Emohua Local Government Vigilante Services (EMOVIS), DSP Godwin Ikenga (rtd) and his deputy, Mr Kayode Wori over alleged killings in the area.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Emohua Local Government Area, Mr Bright Jossy-Elendu, said the suspension of both leaders of the security outfit, who are currently in police custody followingthe alleged killing and disappearance of two persons in the area, was to give room for thorough investigation into allegations of high-handedness against the leadership of EMOVIS.
The statement, however, said that the council boss has approved the appointment of Mr. Agi John Chidi as the acting commander of EMOVIS, to oversee the affairs of the security outfit, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation by the police.
According to him,Lloyd said a member of the vigilante services, Mr Godknows Wokanma, who allegedly carried out the shooting of Mr Chijioke Augustine following the killing of a member of the vigilante by suspected cultists in Elibrada-Emohua, was currently facing trial by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and promised to ensure that justice prevails, while encouraging security agencies to apprehend the alleged killers of the vigilante officer.
Lloyd enjoined the people of the area to go about their normal businesses, assuring that the wrath of the law would be visited on anyone found culpable in the alleged killing and disappearance of the youths, no matter how highly placed, stressing that security agencies have been mobilised to forestall any breakdown of law and order across the area.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
