NSCDC Seals Badagry Waterways In Major Sweep
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has again dealt a big blow on recalcitrant economic saboteurs who specialise in pipeline vandalism and trans-border smuggling.
This follows last Friday’s interception of 117 (25 litres kegs) of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) worth N500,000 by operatives of the NSCDC.
An Assistant Superintendent and the NSCDC Public Relations spokesman, Lagos State Command, Mr. Abolurin Oluwaseun said the seizures were made at Alakoto Meji area of Badagry, Lagos State.
In a statement made available to our correspondent, the image maker said the Commandant, Mr. Eweka Okoro, has ordered an immediate evacuation of the products to the Command’s Headquarters in Alausa.
He said the Commandant has directed that the security of lives, property and protection of oil pipelines in the Badagry Division and other oil pipelines areas in the state be beefed up with immediate effect at this critical time.
Okoro said no amount of intimidation and warfare would deter him and his officers from carrying out their constitutional duty of safe-guarding the pipelines and policing the border against transborder trade crimes such as fuel smuggling.
He also said the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been contacted for proper evacuation of the products to avoid inflammable disaster.
The NSCDC boss also assured the Command’s readiness and commitment in ensuring a zero tolerance against oil pipeline vandalism and other forms of criminalities in the state, while assuring Lagosians of his unflinching commitment towards eradicating oil pipeline vandalism.
