Association Lauds Diri On Security, Provision Of Database In Communities
An organisation, the Bayelsa state CDC Chairmen association (BYCDCCA) has lauded the Bayelsa state Governor,Senator Douye Diri on his effort at ensuring that properties and lives of residents of the state were safe and protected.
Diri received the commendations from the association during an interview the body granted Newsman in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Speaking to The Tide on the backdrop of the recent directives of the government to Communities of the state to have a database of non-indigenes living in their respective communities, the association which spoke through its Secretary, Dr Thomas David God’spower scored the government high on the directives.
He noted that the registration of non-indigenes and their sources of livelihood was a welcome development, owing to the security concerns which earlier have been expressed by communities of the state and the government.
The association which also berated some communities which were alleged to have collected levies from non-natives in the cause of the exercise, charged all Communitiy Development Committee Chairmen in the state not to allow themselves to be misled by any body in the cause of the exercise and after, saying that it is the duty of the CDC Chairmen of all communities of the state to collaborate with the government to foster peace and development in the state.
On the alleged dormancy of the association, the BYCDCCA scribe called for patience, just as he averred that the association has both serving and former CDC Chairmen with requisite experienced as leaders at the state and local government areas.
“BYCDCCA is committed towards a better and stronger partnership with the state government for peace, development and the security of lives and properties of Bayelsans and residence across communities of the state.
“It was bad however, that some Communities were caught collecting monies from people in the cause of this exercise that was supposed to a free one. It’s the duty of CDC Chairmen of all communities in the state to adhere to government’s directives for peace and progress of the state.
“Such Communities,if at all there’s still any engaging in such act should desist from that it forthwith. People should avail themselves the opportunity of reporting any Communitiy found wanton to BYCDCCA and we’ll as an association sanction such Communitiy inline with the association’s guidelines and ethics”, BYCDCCA said
