Andoni,Opobo/Nkoro Cooperatives Benefit From Total Energies’ Empowerment Programme
Two Cooperative Societies in Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas in Rivers State have benefited from Total Energies empowerment programme for offshore communities.
The two cooperative societies, Obolo Ngo Njeyesi Thrift and Saving Cooperative Society Limited and Opobo Kirika Thrift Credit Cooperative Investment Society Limited were presented with 10 tricycles each, numbering a total of 20 tricycles to empower the members of the cooperatives.
Receiving the tricycles at the Egi People’s Assembly Secretariat in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the Obolo Njeyesi Cooperative, Comrade Solomon Awaji- Nenesung thanked Total Energies for the gesture and assured that the tricycles would be put into judicious use.
He commended the company for its youth empowerment policies and noted that it would help in building a strong economic base for the beneficiaries.
Comrade Nenesung called for the sustainability of the empowerment programme to create more impacts in the development of cooperatives in the area.
On his part, the Chairman of Opobo Kirika Thrift and Credit Cooperative Investment Society Limited, Comrade Reginald Pepple also thanked the company for the presentation of the tricycles.
Pepple said the gesture would help in promoting economic sustainability among the members of the cooperative and urged the company not to relent its efforts towards enterprise development particularly among the youths.
