14 Persons Die In Motor Accident In Bayelsa
No fewer than 14 persons were on Monday burnt to death in a fatal motor accident at the Sampou community junction along the East-West road section of Bayelsa State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the cause of the accident was wrongful overtaking and speeding.
The accident, which occurred at about 5pm, involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number LND247XX and a Black Lexus Jeep with registration number KWL726GN.
An eyewitness said that the driver of the Lexus Jeep was sighted to be speeding before the accident occurred.
“His attempts to apply brake and avoid collision with oncoming vehicle failed. The car collided with the Hiace Bus,” an official said.
The FRSC, in its report, stated that 19 persons were involved but 14 died.
