OML11: TROMPCON Backs Wike On Purchase Of Equity Interest
Traditional Rulers from Oil Minerals Producing Communities Of Nigeria (TROMPCON) has thrown its weight behind the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, on the purchase of 45 per cent interest of the OML11.
TROMPCON Chairman Rivers State Chapter, His Royal Majesty, Dr Samuel Amaechi, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Port Harcourt .
The royal father, who is the Onye Ishi Agwuru Igbo kingdom in Etche Local Government Area, said the step would boost employment opportunities and more revenue to the state government.
He further explained that by acquiring the oil blocks, Rivers State would become part of the direct ownership of the oil blocks in the state.
The group urged Governor Wike to go ahead and purchase more oil blocks in the state as the OML 17.
“We are backing the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, in purchasing 45 per cent of OML11.
“By so doing Rivers State government will be part of the ownership of oil blocks in the state .
“We are at the same time supporting and encouraging the Governor of Rivers State to go ahead and purchase other oil blocks in the state like the OML 17”, he said.
