Mrs Atiku Storms Benin, Mobilises Edo Women For PDP
Wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Dr.
Jennifer Atiku Abubakar, last Monday called on Edo women to see February
16 president election as a day of revolution to liberate the people of
this country especially the women and the youth from poverty, hunger,
neglect, mass killings by herdsmen and general insecurity in the
country.
She said her husband, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s government
would tackle the issues of insecurity, mass killings and hunger
currently bedeviling the nation with all available weapons when elected
as the president of the nation comes February 16.
She disclosed this
at a special town hall meeting with the Edo women with the theme: “Let’s
Talk” held with the women’s wing of PDP in Benin City.
“There are some issues I want you to consider come February 16 when selecting your presidential candidate.
“For
Edo people, we have inquired, we have researched and that we are aware
that you have issues with security, you have issues with healthcare and
there are issues with economic and this is general across Nigeria.
“To remedy this, we need to vote for the right candidate and who is the right candidate? Atiku Abubakar.
“So it brings me to the reason why we are here today. It is few days to the elections,” she said.
Mrs
Atiku said for Nigerians to put an end to the myriad of problems
confronting the nation, they should vote her husband and should not sell
their votes.
While encouraging Nigerians to turnout in their large
numbers to vote, she said democracy being a leveller gives room for both
the rich and the poor in the society to decide who governs them, adding
that based on its importance, voting apartheid must be discouraged in
order to have a better society and a better country.
“Democracy is a
leveller, the rich has one vote while the poor has one vote but the fact
is that a huge segment of our society do not vote,” she said.
