Insurer Hails Move Against Fake Vehicle Insurance
A Port Harcourt- based insurance broker, Yom Johnson, has commended the Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA) for the introduction of unstructured supplementary service data(USSD) code, a short code that uses SIM to track transactions.
Johnson gave this commendation in a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt, yesterday .
The insurance broker noted that the insurance sector of the money market was currently suffering client dissatisfaction due to fake insurance policies issued to clients.
He explained that the short code, when fully implemented, would assist the motor insurance policy holder in confirming the authenticity of their polices.
Johnson also said the USSD code would eliminate barriers that prevent law enforcement agencies from adequately discharging their duties.
He said further that the introduction of the USSD code would boost the confidence of new, prospective and existing clients and afford them the opportunity to the authenticity of the policies they desire to buy.He added:’’ this short code would also assistboth the insurance company and the client in working out claims and eliminate embarrassing situations in paying claims’’.
