Edo PDP Kicks Against Obaseki’s N7bn Travel Allowance
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the N7 billion travel allowances of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, which was captured in the 2019 budget of the state.
Edo State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, said this during a campaign rally at Idogbo, headquarters of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State.
He said in the face of worsening economic challenges, still, the government chose to legitimised corruption under the guise of attracting “foreign investors to the State”.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had on Wednesday December 19, 2018 signed the sum of N183.7 billion 2019 Appropriation Bill passed by the Edo State House of Assembly into law.
According to Chief Dan Orbih, “In this year alone, he (Obaseki) has provided N7 billion for foreign trips. His says he is looking for foreign investors to come to the State.
“He (Obaseki) had travelled to Malaysia and China looking for foreign investors and he came back with nothing!
“That governor is busy signing memorandum of understanding (MoU) everywhere”, he said.
On his part, PDP Candidate in Edo South Senatorial district, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, appealed to a crowd of party supporters to re-elect him in order to attract more development to the area.
He advised them to call the bluff of vote buyers and elect PDP Candidates in the 2019 general elections as well as defend their mandate to secure a future for themselves and their Children.
