Igbo Kidnapped In Cross River Regains Freedom
An Igbo man abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had regained freedom. The victim was abducted in Abouchiche in Bekwara Local Government area of Cross River State.
Disclosing this to newsmen on phone last Saturday, the State Security Adviser (SSA) to Governor Ben Ayade in the North senatorial district, Mr Leo Inyambe regretted that none of the kidnappers was arrested.
“We are still on their heels, one day we will arrest them. We have put security apparatus at various places; especially at those areas we have recorded several kidnaps.”
He said the North had been having cases of kidnappings, stressing that: “We are very proactive when it comes to the issue of fighting crimes and criminalities including kidnapping, arm robberies and cultism in the Northern part of the State.
“We have boosted our security network, we have vigilante in various clans, wards and villages, and they gave us information which we acted upon promptly. We also have road check points mounted by security agencies including the Mobile and regular police who check vehicles and motorists with a view to identify criminals.
“We are doing more in that respect with a view to protecting life and properties. The kidnapped Igbo man was rescued. Though, kidnappers demanded for ransom running to millions of naira but we swoop in and got the man released.”
