HOSTCOM Inaugurates Etche Chapter Exco
Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas ( HOSTCOM ) has inaugurated the Etche Local Government Area chapter of the body.
The 35-member executive was officially inaugurated recently in Okehi, the council headquarters by the Rivers State chapter Chairman of the association, Ambassador Hebert Awortu.
Hon Prince Emmanuel Njoku is the chairman, Mr Nwagwu Prince is Vice while Comrade Ogbonnah Daniel serves as the Secretary General, among others.
The state Chairman, Ambassador Herbert Awortu, charged members of the new executive council to strive to live up to their responsibility by sensitising and mobilising various communities to be conscious of the herculean tasks confronting oil and gas producing communities.
He called on community leaders, royal fathers and other stakeholders in Etche land to support the new executive both financially and otherwise to enable them achieve their objectives.
He stressed that HOSTCOM remained the only legally recognised body representing the interest of all host and impacted communities producing oil and gas as accredited landlords.
Awortu called on the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to establish the Rivers State Oil Producing Area Development Commission ( RIVSOPADEC ).
He said the commission would create employment for the teeming unemployed youths and checking youth restiveness.
He further stated that the commission would enhance rapid development of the communities in the state through fair use of the 13 per cent derivation fund.
In his response , the Chairman of Etche chapter of HOSTCOM executive, Hon Prince Emmanuel Njoku commended the people for the confidence reposed in them and assured that they would work hard to actualise the desired goals.
