NUJ S’South Commends President
The leadership and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zone F, have congratulated Mr. Chris Isiguzo, on his emergence as National President of the union at the just concluded National Delegates’ Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Vice President of the zone, Pastor Edward Ogude, in a statement, described the election of Comrade Chris Isigugo as a significant turning point in the history of the union given his antecedents as former Vice President of the union for two consecutive terms with impeccable leadership landmarks to show for it.
Such pedigree, Comrade Ogude said boosted the zone’s confidence in the ability of the National President to discharge creditably the mandate entrusted on him by the over two thousand delegates at the conference by pursuing vigorously a comprehensive welfare scheme for members and professionalism as contained in his acceptance speech.
Ogude who also on behalf of the zone, commiserated with their colleagues in Ebonyi State Council of the Union on the demise of Comrade Sam Nwike, the State Vice Chairman of the union who was cut down in his prime by armed robbers while returning from the conference, and also, those that suffered injuries, assault and losses occasioned by the armed robbery attack.
The Vice President who wondered why such degree of callous bestiality should be meted on innocent and harmless journalists, noted that the incident further emphasized the need for insurance cover for journalists, and prayed for quick recovery for the wounded and sweet repose for the death.
