NAMA Trains AIS Personnel On Automation
The Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has embarked on the training of various categories of personnel in order to build adequate capacity needed for its deployment.
Already, the first batch of six personnel have proceeded to Frankfurt in Germany for a three-week Train-the-Trainer Course on MAP/Chart/e-AIP Publication spanning.
A statement from the agency’s Corporate Affairs Office made available to journalists at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, revealed that the training was in preparation for the commencement of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS).
According to the statement, another batch of 12 trainees will also undergo training in Germany early September ahead of the deployment of Aeronautical Fixed Telecom Network (AFTN)/ATS Message Handling Systems (AMGS) in Lagos and Kano.
NAMA in the statement, pointed out that the system would be networked to other airports in the country that are using the VSAT network.
The statement further explained that the projects are critical components of the AIS automation, targeted at giving trainees the needed exposure to handle the complex situations associated with operations.
The agency, however, expressed hope that they would drive down the process by training others, upon their return to Nigeria from Germany.
NAMA had also expressed its determination to ensure speedy completion of the AIS automation project in view of the centrality of the project to the success of the global migration from Terrestal to Satellite-based Navigation.
