Ayade Tasks Executive Course 10 Participants On Legislative Matters
Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has tasked participants of the Executive Course 10 , to carry a deeper study of the working relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government.
The Governor’s who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Ivara Esu, gave the charge when participants of Course 10 paid him a courtesy visit at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Calabar.
Ayade praised the choice of Calabar for the Course 10 programme and noted that, the theme for the Course 10, the Executive and Legislative is apt, positing, that, there has been a robust working relationship between the Executive and Legislative arm of Government to the extent that the Speaker is often addressed as “Executive Speaker”.
Governor Ayade charged the Course 10 participants to study and learn the secrets behind such an excellent working relationship and make it a model for other states in Nigeria.
He, however, frowned at the poor working network between the various Intelligence Agencies in the country and called on them to rise up to the challenges of insecurity in the country which has resulted in armed robbery, incessant kidnapping and killings, amongst others.
On Boko Haram, the governor called on the intelligence committee to do more, by fishing out those sponsoring the group and put an end to the suffering and killings of innocent Nigerians.
He expressed dissatisfaction at the intelligence operative’s inability to unravel those behind the kidnapping of a member of the state house executive council, three weeks after he was kidnapped and appealed to them to intensify more efforts to rescue the victim.
Earlier, the Head of the Delegation of Course 10, Adamu Dodo, said they were in the State, to explore the theme of the course and understand how the state is working and is able to achieve so many within a short time, and also look at the relationship between the Executive and Legislature and the Local Governments as well as the security challenges of the State.
