LG Wants Firms To Cooperate With Revenue Taskforce

Companies operating
within Ogu Creek at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) and Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT), Port Harcourt in Rivers State have been enjoined to cooperate with the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Revenue Mobilisation Task Force set-up by the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Isaac Ibiberebupakabo, by paying the statutory levies due to the local government.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Isaac Ibiberebupakabo, made the appeal while inaugurating a nine-man Revenue Mobilisation Taskforce in his office at Ogu on Monday.
The CT C boss said as one of the host communities of the companies, whatever is due the local government should be paid to enable the council generate revenue.
According to him, the setting-up of the committee was in line with the extant laws of Rivers State Internal Revenue Service and the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Revenue Bye-Law, adding that they are to serve demand notices on Local Government levies and taxes to companies operating within Ogu/Bolo waterways for the 2016, and also enjoined members of the taskforce to operate within the ambit of the law.
“All companies doing business in or within the jurisdiction of the local government area are hereby requested to co-operate with the Taskforce in the performance of their duty,” he charged.
Responding on behalf of the members of the committee, the chairman, Sampson Alabo Sotonye thanked the council chairman for the confidence reposed on them and promised to carry out their assignment diligently, and also appealed to the companies for their co-operation.
Other members of the committee include Peter Tende, Victor Chuku, Herbert Inna, God’stime Nimenibo, Gordon Atamuno, Simeon Imbu and Johnson Ereburu while Caleb Wariboko is to serve as secretary.
