Rivers Sanitation Marshals Canvass Support For Wike
The Rivers Sanitation
Marshals have said that the present administration in the state, deserve the support of all to enable it return Port Harcourt to its garden city status.
The Marshalls Co-ordinator, Prince Sodin Akiaba, who disclosed this in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, also said that, the state government deserves commendation for clearing Port Harcourt of heaps of refuse within a week of its inauguration, Prince Akiaba said that, the action of the government in the area of refuse disposed has shown that Port Harcourt is on the way to regaining its status as the garden city of Nigeria.
“We need to thank this government for rising to the challenge of clearing Port Harcourt off refuse within a week of inauguration.
“You are aware that before this government came, this city was filled with refuse, but within a week, he cleared all of them”, he said.
He also commended the government for rejuvenating the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, adding that this would go a long way to improve the cleanliness of the city.
Prince Akiaba used the occasion to thank the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah, for successfully piloting the affairs of the agency, since his appointment by the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
While urging the agency not to limit sanitation exercise to Port Harcourt and environs alone, he assured of the readiness of the Rivers Sanitation Marshals to support the agency in all its activities.
Prince Akiaba used the occasion to call on the 23 local government councils to support the activities of the agency by holding regular sanitation activities in their respective areas to bring the programme closer to the people.
