Delta Speaker Urges Promotion Of Staff Discipline
The Speaker of the Delta
State House of Assembly, Mr Monday Igbuya, has urged the commission of the assembly to ensure discipline among staff.
Igbuya made the call when he received members of the commission in Asaba last Friday, and stressed the need for staff to be guided by the law to ensure better service delivery.
He assured the commission that the sixth assembly would support the commission in carrying out its responsibilities.
“I will advise the commission to cut down on some of its expenses as the state was going through economic crisis. The present financial and economic crisis is not peculiar to Delta state alone,’’ he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the commission, Mrs Josphine Kachukwu, said that they came to congratulate Igbuya on his appointment as the speaker and to intimate him on the workings of the commission.
Kachukwu recalled that the commission established in 2004 was charged with the responsibility of recruiting, training and promotion of staff of the assembly, among others.
She noted that promotion of staff had been regular since the commission was established.
Kachukwu said that the commission in the last few years introduced car and housing loans for staff and that no fewer than 70 staff have benefited from the loan scheme.
