NGO Plans Improved Economy For Youth
A Non-Government
Organisation (NGO), No Agric, No Deal West Africa, has said that there is a widening economic gap between the older and the younger generations and as such wishes to take steps to tackle the challenge.
The NGO in a statement signed by the Regional Director, Halima Njobdi, and made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt, Wednesday, said it will use its upcoming national youth investment forum to address some of the challenges facing the youth in the country.
Njobdi said that youths were experiencing increased tension, restiveness and social exclusion as a result of high unemployment rate among them.
“This is the reason No Agric, No Deal West Africa, the Initiators of National Youth Investment Forum have taken actions to tackle unemployment and youth restiveness head-on,” she said.
She said although there has been an increased attention given to youth unemployment, the discrimination which young people face in the labour market over age policy and experience has remained.
Njobdi said the NGO was packaging a workshop under the National Youth Investment Forum which will propose immediate actions that should be taken to reduce youth unemployment.
She urged relevant stakeholders to key into the initiative that was being organised to bring succor to the youth in the country, saying “it is time to listen to the youth and to make them proud”.
