Commissioner Lauds World Bank Over Agric Projects
Cross River State,
Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Ukam Edodi, has commended the World Bank for partnering with the State Government to empower farmers.
Edodi gave the commendation in Calabar when he received a team of World Bank officials.
He described Cross River as the industrial hub of Nigeria due to its clean and serene environment.
“Our Agriculture Transformation Agenda is similar to that of the World Bank, which is geared towards the sustainability of the youthS and women in particular.
“I, therefore, appeal to the bank for more assistance to enable our state reduce poverty at all levels, ‘’ he said.
Leader of the World Bank team, Dr Erasha Bature, informed the commissioner that the team was in the state to support the Commercial Agriculture Development Project.
According to him, the team is also in the state to assess the progress made in the projects sponsored by the bank.
He said that the visit would give the farmers the opportunity to participate in the value chain on cocoa, cassava, and rice being sponsored by the bank.
Bature promised that the bank would continue to cooperate with the Cross River Government to boost agricultural production.
