NAOC Flags-Off Youth Empowerment Scheme In Rivers
In a bid to promote self employment and poverty eradication among youths in its host communities the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and its joint venture partners have flagged-off the 2014/2015 Skills Acquisition Scheme in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking during the opening ceremony in Omoku on Thursday, the NAOC General Manager District, Paolo Carnevale, represented by the Public Relations Community and Government Liaison Manager, Chief Emeka Okoroma, said the scheme was designed to provide an avenue for youths from the respective host communities to be trained in various skills in order to curb unemployment.
He said that about 150 youths drawn from host communities within ONELGA and its environ are participating on skills such as woodwork, welding and fabrication, flair dressing, fashion designing, computer training, catering and event management, adding that the programme is also running simultaneously in other centres at Rumueme (Rivers), Ashaka (Delta), Akakumama and Twon Brass (Bayelsa) states respectively.
