FRSC Records 68 Road Crashes In Delta
The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC) recorded 68 road traffic accidents between July and September in Delta, the Sector Commander, Mr Imoh Etuk, has said.
Etuk, who made the disclosure to newsmen in Asaba yesterday, said 45 persons were killed in the crashes while 285 others were injured.
The sector commander said that a greater number of the crashes was caused by speed limit violation.
He regretted that in spite of massive enlightenment and sensitisation of motorists by the commission, the country had continued to record high rates of road crashes.
He said that the sector command would embark on road safety campaign which would feature rallies, lecture and other events next week.
Etuk warned supporters of politicians in the state to desist from covering car registration number plates with posters of aspirants for elective offices.
He said that it was an offence to do so and that henceforth FRSC officials would apprehend offenders and prosecutes them.
