Delta Govt Assures PDP Aspirants Of Support
Political Adviser to
Delta State Governor, Chief Fred Majemite, has said the PDP will support any of its gubernatorial caspirants that emerges after its primaries.
Majemite, who is also the Director-General, “Tony Obuh for Governor of Delta” campaign organisation, said this in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Asaba.
He expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would produce the next governor of the state, because the current administration had delivered on its election promises to the people.
He, however, said that the party was inclined to Delta North producing the next governor of the state, adding that there was the need to have a governor who would spread development across the state. He explained that because the PDP was a reformed party, it would conduct free and fair primaries for all.
Majemite, however, said that the party would advise whoever that lost to accept defeat and support whoever that won the ticket.
He further said the party leadership in the state, including the governor, was trying to prune down the number of aspirants through negotiation.
He said it was a measure to forestall some aspirants from feeling aggrieved and defecting.
