Delta House Of Assembly Passes 2014 Budget Amendment Bill
The Delta State House of
Assembly has passed the 2014 Appropriation Amendment Bill after re-ordering the sum of N94 billion to cater for major projects.
The passage of the bill followed a report presented to the House by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Daniel Mayuku.
Presenting the report, Mayuku said the committee scrutinised the proposed amendment in relation to the 2014 budget to ascertain areas that required re-ordering.
“For proper budgeting, we invited the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to appear before our committee.
“We observed that the amendment was borne out of the desire of the state government to complete some mega projects,” he said.
Mayuku said that the amendment bill also provided for current and long term liabilities on the mega projects which the state government was committed to.
Mayuku said after the scrutiny, the committee recommended that N94.9 billion be re-ordered.
After the presentation, the Majority Leader, Mr Monday Igbuya, moved a motion for the House to accept the report for further consideration.
His motion was seconded by Mrs Onyemaechi Mrakpor, representing Aniocha South constituency.
Igbuya thereafter moved that the House suspend Orders 74 to 83 to enable it take the Bill for the third time and pass it.
The motion was seconded by the lawmaker representing Burutu II Constituency, Mr Daniel Yingi, the bill was later passed following a voice vote.
