Mixed Reactions Trail Pristorius Jail Sentence
Mixed reactions have
trailed the five- year jail sentence given to the Olympics medalist, Oscar Pistorius for allegedly killing his girl friend, Reeua Steenkamp.
Pistorius, popularly called the blade runner was alleged to have shot his friend in the night of February, 13 2013.
In his reaction in interview with Tidesport in Port Harcourt a sports analyst, John Okolo described the five years jail term as too small for somebody who alleged killed his girlfriend, saying that even though the offence was converted to manslaughter by the trial judge.
My opinion is that he should have been given at least 15 years jail term Okolo said.
Okoro Nnamdi, a businessman in his reaction said the jail term is insignificant in the light of the offence.
Honestly, I am not happy over the five years given to him to serve.
It could be that the youngman deliberately killed his girlfriend for the reasons best known to him, Nnamdi said.
John Dagogo a football Fan in Port Harcourt said, Pistorius showed so much remorse after he shot his girlfriend. He did it unknowly.
Dagogo was of the view that the court would have freed him, haven shown every evidence that it was a mistake.
“I think that the judge just followed public pressure to sentence him, otherwise there is no reason for the jail term” Dagogo said”.
