Tincan Island Container Terminal Gets New Executive
The Tincan Island Port
Container Terminal in Lagos now has gotten a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Etienne Rocher to replace Mr Yeheuda Kotik who will remain as the company’s chairman.
The terminal’s spokesman, Mr Bolaji Akinola, who made this known to newsmen in an interview in Lagos.
He said that Rocher, who is a French national, had put in over 25 years management experience in the field of shipping and ports, acquired in diverse cultural environments in Europe.
“He also h as experience in India sub continent and Africa, including leading Tangier- Med/Morocco Greenfield Container Terminal Development.
He started operations from 2005 through 2011″, Akinola said.
According to him, the new chief executive officer had worked in Bollore Africa Logistics Headquarters in Paris before his new appointment in Nigeria, adding that Rocher looks forward to a great work experience here in Nigeria.
“Our company is committed to investing in the port and making significant contributions to port development in Nigeria”Akinola quoted Rocher, who had assumed office.
The spokesman of the terminal said that the company’s investment at its terminal at Tincan Island Port Complex in Lagos had grown to over N16 billion over the past eight years.
He also quoted Rocher as saying that the terminal took delivery of five cranes on June 16th this year, bringing the total number of cranes at the terminal to 15.
Akinola said this will certainly boost productivity and assist them in serving customers, adding that the Rubber Tyre Gantry is a mobile gantry crane used for stacking intermodal containers within the staking areas of a container terminal.
