Akpabio Identifies Bane Of Nigeria’s Politics
The Akwa Ibom State
Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has identified disloyalty, impatience and lack of integrity as major problems of the country.
Akpabio, who spoke last Friday when some elders and stakeholders of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom, led by Dr Akpan Micah Umoh, paid him a courtesy call in his office, lamented that these factors had permeated the Nigeria.
He called on politicians in the state to practise politics of integrity, saying this was needed if the state would move forward. The governor, however, described Honourable Akpan Umoh as a humble person and hailed him for his effective representation at the National Assembly.
Akpabio pledged to support legislators doing well in office to enhance quality legislation, robust debate. He said “You are doing well at the National Assembly. We want somebody to sustain our representation at the National Assembly and infrastructure in Akwa Ibom. One good turn deserves another”.
A one-time Chairman of Eastern Obolo, Mr Ufikairo Efet, observed that Hon Umoh had represented them well in the House and had properly keyed into the PDP manifesto, stressing the need to support him for a second term.
The former Chairman of Mkpat Enin, Obong Richard Umoren, also lauded the governor for his hard work and the infrastructural renaissance of the state, describing Umoh as a wonderful and humble person who needed to be supported for a second term in the House.
