Nigeria will host the third African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) in Abuja to consider and adopt best ways to improve Internet services and access in the continent.
The secretariat of the forum at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa said yesterday that the 3rd AfIGF will hold from July 10 to July 12.
The forum is part of a global 10-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+10).
The African Internet governance space has been active in the lead up to the World Summit on Information Society in 2005, when the Internet Governance Forum was established.
The secretariat said in a statement made available to The Tide source that the forum would make recommendations for consideration and adoption by African governments and stakeholders on best ways to improve Internet services and access.
UNECA is the host of the secretariat of the African Internet Governance Forum with the African Union Commission as a member.
It would be recalled that Egypt hosted the first AfIGF between October 2 and October 4, 2012, while Kenya hosted the second between September 23 and September 26, 2013.
