Delta Lawmaker Empowers 60 Women With N12m
A member of the
Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Edoja Akpodiete, says he has empowered 60 women with N12 million in the last two years.
Akpodiete disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Asaba recently.
He said that each of the women got N200,000 to enable her to establish any business of her choice.
The lawmaker said that he carried out the empowerment project under Rufus Edoja Akpodiete Peoples’ Welfare Scheme (REAPWELS) Foundation.
Akpodiete, who represents Ughelli North II in the Delta State House of Assembly, said that the organisation was established to help his constituents.
He said that he had carried out other projects in his constituency, including re-fencing of the Ughelli Main Market, provision of potable water and installation of cassava processing mill.
Akpodiete said that he had also attracted some constituency projects to the area some of which had been completed while others were ongoing.
He listed the completed projects as modernisation of classroom blocks at Ekiugbo Primary School, Oteri Secondary School and Eserophe Primary School while the on-going projects were the construction of Oka Street Road in Ughelli, and installation of solar street light in Ofuoma community.
