TUC Seeks Private Sector Jobs For Youths
The President of Trade
Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Mr Bobboi Kaigama, has urged the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for the private sector to create jobs in Nigeria.
Kaigama told The Tide in Lagos that the provision of good roads, stable power, development of infrastructure, and improvement in the agricultural sector, would boost job-creation for the youth.
“Government is more of creating the enabling environment by providing stable power and infrastructure that will enable the agricultural areas to be opened up.
Provide adequate environment for solid mineral to be developed. By the time it provides this environment, government does not need to create jobs.
See how in the GSM sector multiplier effect is taking place; provide those things, industries will spring up.
Commercial venture will come up that will be employing Nigerian youths by the time government opens up the agricultural sector by way of providing road infrastructure and then providing the incentives.
So, by the time it provides mechanised farming, more hands will be engaged.
So, those are the kinds of environment we want government to provide. Not that government should do the bulk of employment. No.’’
Kaigama said the right environment would help to alleviate poverty and attract foreign investors into the country.
