Rundele Women, Youths Get Soft Loans
More than 10,000 members of the Ikwerre Youth movement (IYM) and Ikwerre Women Forum (IWF), from Rundele in the Emohua Local Government Council have been empowered with soft loans to improve their conditions.
The empowerment programme was initiated by the Board Member I of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education (UBE), Hon. Lucky Worlu and the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Information Communi-cation Technology (ITC), Mr Goodliffe Nmekini.
Speaking at the ceremony, the former secretary to the Rivers State Government and Head of Service, Chief Sampson Agbaru, said that the event was indication that the political leadership of Rundele had not failed their people.
He said that the programme must be an example to leaders everywhere to go back home and identify with their people.
Also speaking, the political leader of Rundele community, Hon Lucky Worluh attributed the success of the programme to the effort of the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi.
Hon. Worluh said that the programme was in line with the policy of the state government to ensure that the people of Rundele and others were economically empowered to improve their conditions.
He also commended the state government for the construction of roads and other social amenities in the area.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Mr Goodliffe Nmekini said that he was happy with Governor Amaechi for remembering Rundele through appointments of its sons and daughters and provision of social amenities.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Rundele Chapter of Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM), Hon Iheanyi Chukwu Egbo said that the people of Rundele were now members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Each of the IYM members got N100,000 while the sum of N50,00 was given to each of the IWF members.
