A’Ibom To Understudy Israeli Agric Practices
Akwa Ibom State
government said last Saturday that it was planning to send a delegation to understudy Israeli agricultural practices for replication in the state.
Governor Godswill Akpabio, made this known in Uyo while fielding questions from Government House Correspondents.
Akpabio, who has just returned from pilgrimage to Israel, said that Nigeria should learn from Israel by improving its agricultural practices.
“Nigeria should develop its agricultural base to a point where we can get all the food items every month.
“Nigeria has a lot to learn on food production from Israel as it is feeding its neighbours.
“We should concentrate on agriculture so that we will be able to export food to other countries,” Akpabio said.
He said that Israel was feeding its neighbours in spite of its size in terms of land and population.
The governor said that the government had put in place a scheme that would sustain the transformation of its roads as obtained in Israel.
Akpabio said that government was also planning to build two more hotels in Ikot Ekpene and Eket Local Government Areas, respectively.
He said that town hall meetings would begin in 31 local government areas of the state to discuss the way forward in view of 2015 general elections.
“We will consult with the people. “I am interested in meeting the people to know the direction. “2015 is not a major issue because in the end God will guide us and the process will be very peaceful.
“We will disappoint our critics and enemies,” Akpabio said.
