Jonathan Mourns Death Of Former VC

Jonathan has said that he received the death of the former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Omo Omoruyi, with “great sadness’’.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the Presidential on Media.
“Jonathan said that Omoruyi’s contributions to the nation’s political development would be long remembered.
“He commiserated with Omoruyi’s family and the Government and people of Edo State on the loss of the “very distinguished academic and illustrious citizen,’’ he said.
Abati said the president believed that Nigerians would always acknowledge and honour the late Professor’s significant contributions towards laying an enduring foundation for the current democratic dispensation in the country.
He said the President acknowledged late Omoruyi’s contribution to the evolvement and development of the Centre for Democratic Studies, which he served as pioneer Director-General.
Abati said that the president joined the late renowned political scientist’s family, relatives, friends and associates in praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
