Operators Okay Biometric Data Of Hotel Workers
Hotel operators have said that the biometrics data capturing of registered hotel workers in the country would reduce crime in the industry.
The operators told journalist in Lagos that the idea would ensure that the hospitality industry was safe for visitors and tourists while in the country.
Mr Amauba Richard, the Operation Manager, Lekki Horizon Hotel, Lagos said that the idea would ensure only genuine persons worked in the hospitality industry.
He said the workers’ details should be further verified to ensure no registered hotel employed persons with questionable character.
Mr Momon Kadiri, the Manager, Le Real Hotel, Lagos said that the biometrics would assist the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) in the monitoring of hoteliers on its portal.
He said “the actualisation of the scheme will control illegal operations of unregistered hotels and promote security in the industry”.
Mr Meyiwa Ogbebor, the Vice Chairman, Ritalori Hotels, Lagos urged the NTDC to ensure no worker in all registered hotels shunned the scheme.
Ogbebor said that any operator caught should be sanctioned.
Also, Mrs Felix Aguebor, the Sales Executive, Homeville Hotel, Lagos, however, urged NTDC to market aggressively the country’s tourism potential to the global community.
He lauded the efforts of NTDC in reducing crime in the industry.
