ANLCA Clears Air On Electoral Panel Report Implementation
The National Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) is yet to implement the much talked about panel report of the 2013 chapter elections conducted by the association few months ago.
According to the National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayinwole Shittu, the decisions on the controversial recommendations of the electoral panel of the association will be taken same time in April 2013, when the Board of trustees (BOT) of the association is expected to meet.
Shittu who commented on the issue recently for the first time since the release by the electoral panel’s recommendations said that everyone who thinks that the reports are sacrosanct is living in a fool’s paradise.
“No final decision has been taken on the recommendations of the electoral panel, the report will be subjected to final decisions when the BOT and NECOM meet in April , Shittu said.
He noted that people have been going to town with false statements that the recommendations have been accepted.
Speaking further, the ANLCA boss said, “the NECOM and BOT met and agreed to reconvene in April, it is at the meeting that final decisions will be taken.
“What the panel did was to recommend, and the highest decision taking organ of ANLCA, the only body that can accept or do otherwise.
It could be recalled that there was spontaneous rejection of the ANLCA chapters elections results bordering on irregularities and rejection of candidates by the electoral body.
As a result of the crises, ANLCA, National President, Prince Olayinwola Shittu set up an electoral committee to investigate the allegations and submissions by aggrieved members.
The panel however, submitted its reports with string recommendations to cancel most of the elections. ANLCA is yet to act on the recommendations.
