Outreach Plans Youth Empowerment Scheme
Light of Glory Youth Outreach (LIGYOR), has concluded plans to empower some of its members in various skill acquisition in a bid to give them sense of belonging.
The pastor of the Outreach, Pastor Nature Dumale Kieghe, disclosed this last Friday, while speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
He said the empowerment programme became necessary after reflecting on the past lives some of the would-be beneficiaries led.
Kieghe, reasoned that since the boys and girls have turned a new leaf, it is wise to give them a life-time support.
He hoped that the vision, with time, would grow like the biblical mustard seed where people from all works of life will find succour.
The Tide gathered that most of the expected beneficiaries were ex-militants from all parts of the state and beyond but who have decided to put their acts together as ambassadors of peace and development.
The “General” as he is fondly called, said the empowerment scheme will cut across up to 100 youth, both male and females within and outside the Outreach.
He noted that it is better to teach the man how to fish than to give him fish, so that he can feed himself whenever he or she is hungry.
He charged his members on how to make wise saving of their incomes, saying it is out place to lavish one’s earnings on worthless ventures like smoking and drinking.
According to him, it is a thing of joy if one is pastoring a wealthy congregation than a group of never-do- wells.
The man ofGod also tasked the people on alms giving, and the need to avail themselves of training opportunities, adding that God’s blessings come from diverse ways.
The Tide did not immediately gather how soon the skill acquisition programme will commence, but was informed by close sources that it would commence as soon as all logistics are provided.
