A’Ibom Assembly Passes Public Private Partnership Bill
Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has
passed a bill to make provision for the establishment of Akwa Ibom Public
Private Partnership Council.
The Speaker, Hon. Samuel Ikon, said on
Tuesday in Uyo that the Public Private Partnership Council would facilitate and
regulate partnership between the public and private sector in the
industrialisation of the state.
Ikon added that the bill would further
enhance public private sector in planning, design, construction, operation and
maintenance of infrastructures, goods and services in the state.
“Akwa Ibom Public Private Partnership
Council bill when assented into law by the Governor will give more value for
money to the consumers, “ Ikon said.
The bill which had gone through the
committee stage was read the third time through a motion moved by the leader of
the house Okpolupum Ette and was passed.
Ette, who is also the House Committee
Chairman on Special Projects, Monitoring and Implementation, had earlier
presented the report of the committee to the house for consideration.
The speaker directed the clerk, Mrs Mandu
Umoren to send the clean copy of the bill to the governor for assent.
