Showcase Nigerian Products Abroad, NIPC Tells FG
The Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), has urged the Federal Government to take steps to showcase made in Nigeria products to the world.
The Executive Secretary of the NIPC, Alhaji Mustafa Bello, made the appeal on Thursday in Abuja while speaking with the newsmen.
Bello said that Zimbabwe often described as“ a poor country,” had been showcasing its products on CNN and other international media networks.
“Today not even the Federal Ministry of Information is able to do that for Nigeria. The country has not been able to showcase its products enough to the international community,’’ he said.
He stressed the need for the government to ensure that whatever was produce in Nigeria with comparative advantage was showcased to the world.
“We have a large market and great opportunities. We need funds to do a lot of publicity on those opportunities and advantages,” he said.
Bello also stressed the need for the electronic media to get more involved in publicising Nigerian products as being done in other countries, adding: “at times, Nigerians are being invited to showcase the country’s opportunities to the outside world but are handicapped, due to lack of fund.
“Such opportunies bring about innovations as Nigerians learn from higher technology,” he added.
