Ghana Seeks Improved Trade Partnership With Nigeria
The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has declared its intention to seek more partners in Nigeria to team up with and develop the trade along the West African region.
Its Principal Export Development Officer, Mr. Erasmus Ashun, told newsmen in an interview on Saturday at the ongoing 25th edition of the Lagos international trade fair, that it was only trade that could help develop and bring the two countries together.
“It is the objective of the Ghanaian Government that we forge strong relationship with our Nigerian counterparts,” he said.
Ashun said that about 70 Ghanaian companies were participating at the trade fair as against 30 companies that participated at the 2010 edition of the fair.
He said that this year’s participation had been the highest with participants drawn from fruit juice industries, microfinance institutions, IT, clothing and artifacts, among others.
He said that though there was a little delay at the Seme border, the country was looking forward to a good participation at the fair in terms of patronage.
“Most of our goods just arrived this morning because the Nigerian Customs Service made sure we provided exhibits of all the products we were bringing to the fair,”
