S’ Eagles W/Cup Camp Not Ready
Super Eagles’ Durban camp is not quite ready, NFF President, Sani Lulu , has confirmed.
Lulu, who was in South Africa in company of the Eagles coach, Lars Lagerback, told our source Nigeria on Thursday in Johannesburg that there were some issues to be ironed out before their next visit at the end of April.
Lagerback also said that “there were one or two things” to be done at the Hampshire Hotel.
He said the inspection had revealed that the fencing of the hotel and training ground at Ballito were not in place but added that the proprietors had assured that they would be ready by April.
“We still want to believe that the progress of work is on but the work has to be completed by April. Until they finish, we can’t say much.
“The facilities are still being put right. The hotel is almost completed but we have one, two or three things that are outstanding,” Lulu said.
Speaking with our source, Lagerback said he would pick players who would make Nigeria proud at the World Cup.
Asked if the semi-final target for the team was realistic, the former Swedish coach said nothing was impossible in soccer, adding that it was attainable.
He said he was impressed with the speed of Mohammed Yusuf’s recovery after visiting the injured Eagles defender in Johannesburg.
The delegation was also in Raichards Bay and Bloemfontein, where the Eagles will be playing some of their matches at the 2010 World Cup.
