Transform Hotel Presidential To Modern Five – Star Status- Nwuke
Rivers State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Prince Ogbonna Nwuke, has charged the management of Presidential Hotel to transform the Hotel to a modern five-star status.
The Commissioner made this statement on Tuesday at his office in Port Harcourt, when the management of the Hotel Presidential-led by its Managing Director, Mr. Rene Antoun, paid him a courtesy visit.
Prince Nwuke, who described the efforts of the staff and management of the hotel in the area of improved facilities as encouraging, stated that, government would provide the enabling environment for the hotel.
He assured the management of government’s determination to improve upon power supply in the state, pointing out that, government is partnering with PHCN in the distribution network to ensure that energy that is generated from the gas turbine is stepped down for the benefit of the state.
In his speech, the Managing Director of Presidential Hotel, Mr. Rene Antoun, thanked the commissioner for the renewal of their service contract.
Mr. Rene pleaded with the commissioner to look into some of the problems militating against the hotel which include aged and unserviceable generators, long outstanding debts from Bayelsa State Government totaling over N150 million and aged furniture among other things.
He expressed his management’s readiness to work with the government to meet up with the set goals. He further stated that his management would take up the challenges of repairs and maintenance of facilities of the hotel to an acceptable standard.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
