RSUST, NAOC Agree To Check Noise Pollution

ers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) and the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) are considering some understanding on how to ameliorate the noise pollution and other negative effects of the company’s aircraft on the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Barineme Fakae disclosed this to The Tide in Port Harcourt recently.
He said, “Agip has started considering our cry for justice.”
The VC, however, did not give further details on the nature and scope of the consideration by the multinational oil company which share common boundary with the institution’s main campus.
Fakae had, during the commissioning ceremony of the university’s e-liberary by Total Upstream Nigeria (TUCN) recently expressed concern over the devastating noise from Agip’s planes which flyover the campus.
He said the noise pollution had become a big challenge to the university campus which ought to enjoy a serene atmosphere.
The Tide also gathered that at the agric farm of the institution the planes had caused damages to some of the economic trees.
