‘16,213 S’African Tourists Visited Nigeria’
The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), says 16,213 South African tourists visited the country in 2012.
A statement on Tuesday in Lagos by Mrs Ibe Ijeh— NTDC’s Lagos office spokesperson— said the figure was 7, 200 higher than the 9,013 South African tourists that visited in 2011.
According to the statement, out of the figure, 10,113 are males, 4,100 (females), while 2,000 are children.
It stated that the visitors were residents, principal immigrants, visiting immigrants, government officials and foreign diplomats.
It attributed the increase to the implementation of tourism bilateral agreement between the Nigerian and South African governments.
It said that the corporation would continue to promote the tourism potential of the country to attract more tourists to it.
