FG Moves To Fix Auchi-Okene-Abuja Road
The wash-away portion of Auchi-Okene-Abuja road in, Edo State, would be recovered through holistic drainage plan for the settlement. Arch. Mike Onomenlemen, Minister of Works has said.
He said preliminary report has already been submitted by Julius Berger and Ranold Construction Companies on the Auchi gully site, and actions have been taken to address the menace.
Mike, who disclosed this while on a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, also said; the report shows that the affected local council, state and the federal government are to partner in tackling the erosion problem.
“We have gone ahead to initiate action, I am confident in a couple of weeks, work would commence”. The minister emphasised government’s readiness to fix the failed portion of Benin-Ore-Lagos road. “We have created a very unique section like stone -base, underground and surface drain”.
“We may be on the political divide, but when it comes to the issue of development, we are partners in progress”.
Governor Oshiomhole who congratulated the minister on his appointment, said his government shares in the good intension based on the wordiness President Jonathan found in him to chair one of the difficult ministries.
He said the people are impressed with his challenges in pursuit of road maintenance in the State.”The economies of the State and the entire South-South have been negatively affected by the deplorable road condition which has resulted in some businesses wanting to relocate from the region”.
