Bayelsa Begins Fiscal Policy Implementation
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa says government is determined to enforce the implementation of its new policy on accountability and fiscal responsibility at the third tier of government.
Therefore Dudafa said, local government administrators should be ready to give account of what they have been doing with funds allocated to their council.
The Commissioner who stated this while disclosing the withholding of November fiscal allocation due to Kolo Creek Development Area over the failure of its chairman to provide evidence of projects he claimed to have executed, also faulted the 20 classroom block executed by Ogbia Local Government Council.
Mr. Dudafa said that the state government is taking the new step because of poor performances of council chairmen generally in the state.
While ordering the seizure of the allocation, the commissioner described the few projects executed as substandard, and frowned at the performance of Ogbia Local government Chairman, Mr. Justice Bellow as been below expectation.
He, therefore urged council chairmen in the state to show more commitment to the development of the rural area, saying that hencefort any erring council boss would not be allowed to go free.
